Team USA erased a 15-point first-half deficit to secure a commanding semifinal victory and a spot in the gold medal game. The United States will face the winner of Slovenia-France, while Australia will take on the losing team in that matchup for bronze.
Brooklyn Nets forward Kevin Durant led Team USA with a game-high 23 points and Phoneix Suns guard Devin Booker added 20.
Patty Mills, who recently signed with the Nets, led Australia with 15 points.
Despite shooting a dismal 2-of-13 from behind the arc during the first half, Team USA only trailed by 3 points at halftime. The United States sank four triples in the third quarter to help turn things around and surged to a 19-point lead heading into the final 10 minutes.
Durant is up to 23 points heading into the final frame, while Booker has 18 and Milwaukee Bucks guard Jrue Holiday has 11.
France takes on Slovenia on Thursday at 7 a.m. ET in the second semifinal.
